Kicking the "A" out, getting the "I" back
Its 4:00 AM on a Saturday morning, i'm waiting for the North London Derby to begin in next 30 mins. We need to destroy SPURS tomorrow (i didn't say defeat, bcoz i really mean DESTROY). But that is not what is keeping me awake. I'm missing playing football and today i remembered a same group of people for 3 times. Kinda unusual for me but it happened. Yeah, i was thinking of all the guys with whom i used to play football back in Pune.
Gone are the days when i used to be fit and flexible (although FAT and FIT are not far away, atleast in the spellings), there is not much running around happening now. There is no play time at all and its getting lazy day by day. There are 10 football grounds within 3 miles from my apartment but i cannot find another 5-6 more people to play football. Its the reverse of how things were back in Pune. At this point of time in Pune, on a Saturday morning, we would be all set to gather at the chai ka tapri and then head to FC ground to play football. Our football ground had around 20 football players, 10-15 cricket players playing cricket and sometimes even a cricket pitch on our play field. But still the zeal kept us going and we didn't miss even a single Saturday to play against Babban Eleven. Among the fights on the ground and the jokes after the game, we did have a very good football time. Guys like Saket, Tamal and Kashid always made it easy to make it on the ground early morning as i was sure they would be there ready to get footballing. And yeah, we had to remain sharp as if we dont, then no one could save us from Mehdis firings.
I remembered these guys thrice today:
1. I was thinking about playing football today morning but i couldn't get hold of 8 people who could confirm their availability to play football. From the time when football made time for itself, i have moved into time where we cannot make time for football.
2.We had planned a hike tomorrow to Mission Peaks , call is the Sianghad of Fremont. That was when i thought of our team of Mehdi, Kashid, Tamal and Saket which did try our best to get some hard work done at the Persistent day long field activities. We climbed Sianghad but didnt get any points. (I wont mention the reason though). We did wall climbing but it was not good enough. We cycled hard in the cycle race, even though one of us took cycling on that day after around 12 years. But in the controlled football, we just killed the opposite team. After all Football was what we participated for.
3. I somehow reached Sakets blog and read about Tamal and Kashid. This brought back a lot of memories. Kashid is still fit and will always be. Saket seems to be picking up well and getting in shape(trusting his blog). And Tamals seems to be behind me when it comes to fitness (again, trusting Sakets Blog). Now after reading the blog i remembered that even i used to hit the keyboard and out up some bytes sometimes. There have been a lot of things that i have stopped doing. So i thought of getting back into getting them done. And here i m writing a BLOG.
But now i finally realized the reason for these guys crossing my mind so many times today. They remind me of the good old energetic days.Seems like its high time i start getting back and kick out the A from FAT and replace it by I. So .....
Things to do are,
- get hold of Madhaw, Mohsin, Rohan, Sagar and Yeole and play football in one of the coming days.
- the plan to climb Mission peaks seems to be off as its still raining and doesn't seem to be a good idea to go on with that plan.November rain strikes again. But i will do it soon. Mission Peaks wont be Mission incomplete.
- Stop watching movies like LINCOLN. Didnt make much sense as to why i went there and sat for 2.5 hrs and now not getting sleep, ended up browsing till late... and finally blogging!
- EXERCISE, get back to shape.
OK, thats shud be enuff of writing. The derby has begun and i need to shift focus. Go ARSENAL!!!
