I'm sick and I’m loving it .

I'm sick and really in a very bad condition, its getting worse day by day, but I’m really enjoying it. This sickness is called FOOTBALL FEVER. I’m suffering from it, but I’m not the only one. There exists many others all around the world whose condition is same as mine or may be even worse. And for all of us the next 31 days are going to be a real tuff time.

This sickness is not so rare in a state like Goa where sports starts and ends with football. Someone rightly said that Goa is all about the 5 F's --> Fish, Feni, Fun, Friends and Football. Thanks to the Portuguese who brought this lovely game to Goa and many other good things aswell, but as for now I would now like to say obrigado para o presente deste jogo encantador chamado football.

The symptoms were present for the past many days and finally the day has come when bearing them has really turned out to be very difficult for me. Although the remedy is quite clear and every suffering person is aware of what's to be done next, nobody can start working on it right now. Seems like the hands of the clock are really dragging their feet trying to move as slowly as possible and increasing the gap between me and my medicine. My treatment will begin tomorrow (9th June) as soon as the referee blows his whistle and 62 live football matches between the best 32 teams in the world is what promises to heal me from this sickness. I got to admit myself on the 9th of June and 9th of July is when I shall be discharged. Hopefully this fever should be gone by then.

Everybody’s talking about it, may it be in the market place or in a crowded bus, just outside the church or at the traffic signals, in restaurants or in the parking lot, seems like no one can just keep away form it. The talks are in the air, here and everywhere. Some want to see Beckhamp’s free kicks, some are waiting for Ronaldo’s over-runs, others are waiting for Dida’s saves and what not. The team jerseys are to be seen everywhere and the flags of all these participating nations fly-high. The so called Coke-Zones have started appearing at different places to help people catch the action on giant screens. The air around smells of football and other then football there nothing else that people can think of.

All this is a pleasure to watch and its really beautiful to get lost into it. Different expectations from different people and everyone has their own opinions and philosophies to explain as to who should emerge out as champions and why. But in the end, lets not forget that its just a sport and things could turn around any time. So ah jus wanna say “ Be prepared for the un-expected”.

So calling out all you football lovers and keeping in mind the motto of FIFA06 “ Time to make friends “ here’s me wishing you an excitement filled world cup, also praying for quick recovery of all those suffering from Football Fever and telling the rest BE WARE – Because It’s Contagious !!!

NB: This post was written on the 7th of June but due to some reasons couldn’t be put up on my blog during that time, then the biggest event on earth began and I jus forgot to upload it. But finally its up there now. Am sorry about that.
