Quarters No. A13 - You can check-in any time you want …….

If you plan to stay in the university campus and complete your course, you are given a room in the hostel, there are very few blessed people who really get a better option. I can claim myself to be one of those. The hostel being full, when I applied, we were placed in a University Quarters No. A13.

Located opposite to the University Park, very close to the football ground, easy reach to the main road, not to far away from Cancra beach and a feeewww... meters away from the girls hostel. What more do you want???

The place did look haunted and scary earlier, thanks to Dhillon (room-mate) who gave it a new look, cleaning everything in and around (Mission chaka-chak A13).

After a small confusion on allocating the rooms, I finally got the best one (the only one on the first floor). I still remember, the first time I went to check the room I was accompanied by my classmates (Sudesh, Aditya, Parag, Vaibhav, Sarvesh). Then finally, on the 9th of August 04, I Checked-in.

If you are one of those who likes to admire nature and appreciate the beautiful sceneries, then this is a place you should visit .A lovely location to check the Sun creeping into the sky early morning or dipping into the salty Arabian late in the evening, the peacocks running, lots of pigeons flying, different birds chirping the snakes crawling, the evening view of Zuari bridge or the well lit Vasco city at night.

Sometimes we do call it a Party time and plan of a get-together. Such parties don’t really come from good reasons to celebrate but just to have a nice time. Food is really very good on such occasions, thanks to Bhiju (CDP of A13). The barbecue on the terrace is unforgettable. Then what follow are jokes, games, and special programs, especially by Sudhanshu (believe me, this dude is a real good singer and wonderful dancer aswel). Sometimes we also go for fishing late night at Dona Paula. Of all the times we have been for fishing, so far, only Sudhanshu has succeeded in catching a fish. That was a real big one. This shows what a good fisherman he is. He then went on singing out of joy. Such nights don’t end soon.

Sleeping on the terrace and stargazing is also wonderful, especially when Siddharth or Sid (to be compulsorily pronounced as seed) is around, explaining about the hunter, along with his dogs, going to catch Taurus. Then finally its time for coffee (around 2-2.30 am) and Brenton's bike (public ka naya transport) helps to collect some snacks and coffee from GMC canteen. Recently Sid also discovered a place where we can get fruit juice at night. Earlier Pritam used to prepare wonderful coffee, but now I guess he has forgotten how to, or has just become lazy (pssst.. The second one is right). Some nights stretch to early morning when we finally go off to bed.

Sid likes to listen to Kishor Kumar's music before sleeping, but we don’t enjoy it so much, so we ask him to keep it slow on volume. But sometimes he slowly goes creeping in the dark to increase the volume and sometimes even falls of the bed [ha ha ha ha ...] and the best part is when he pretends as if nothing has happened. Brenton is dangerous, he keeps on rolling over everyone, I guess, even a football field won’t be sufficient for him to sleep. If suddenly you wake up in the middle of the night and find your pillow missing, you can get it from Brenton. He always forgets to fold his blanket when he gets up, and claims that he couldn't find it in the morning. Pritam is the best, he takes his pillow and his own blanket, and no one can even touch it. Even if you are dieing of cold, don't expect to get his blanket. He doesn't give it to anyone, I guess he won’t even share it with his wife.

But you never know, finally who wakes up when and leaves the room. This place has given us a lot of memories and continues to do so. I wish it was mine forever, as of now I can say it is....

So if anytime you are around the campus and looking for shelter, don't forget, QUARTERS NO. A13 - You can check in any time you want, but don’t forget that you should also leave.
